KU excels on and off the court
Congratulations to the KU debate team for winning the National Championship, to KU's women basketball team for advancing to the WNIT Championship game for the first time ever, and to the KU men's basketball team for reaching the Sweet Sixteen for the third consecutive year!
The debate team beat Wake Forest on Tuesday, March 31st, to win the National Debate Tournament for the first time in 26 years, becoming National Champions. The team that won the tournament consisted of Brett Bricker and Nate Johnson, both seniors at KU.
The Lady Jayhawks defeated Illinois St. 75-72 Wednesday night in the WNIT semifinal game. The Hawks will face the South Florida Bulls on Saturday at 1pm at Allen Fieldhouse. This is the first time the women's basketball team has reached the championship game of the WNIT.
The men's basketball team lost to Michigan St. on Friday night, in the Sweet Sixteen game of the NCAA Tournament. This was the third consecutive year the Hawks made the Sweet Sixteen, which finished a great year for the rebuilding Jayhawks.
